The 44TH

Birds flying high
You know how i feel
Sun in the sky
You know how i feel
Reeds drifting on by
You know how i feel
It's a new dawn
It's a new day
It's a new life
For me
And I'm feeling good

Fish in the sea
You know how I feel
River running free
You know how I feel
Blossom in the trees
You know how I feel
It's a new dawn
It's a new day
It's a new life
For me
And I'm feeling good

Dragonflies out in the sun
You know wot I mean
Butterflies all having fun
You know what I mean
Sleep in peace when the day is done
It's an old world
It's a new world
It's a bold world
For me

Stars when you shine
You know how I feel
Said i'll be fine
You know how I feel
Oh freedom is mine
And I know how I feel

It's a new dawn
It's a new day
It's a new life
For me
Ooh feeling good
Ooh feeling good

Hayward Con.

This past weekend I was a guest at the Hayward Comic Book Convention.
We tried something a bit different at this show. What we did was set up about four panels and had any kids or young artist's contribute their art work. The turn out was really good and gave me the chance to talk to other artists.

The idea was sparked up by Steve Wyatt who organized the show. Steve had seen me doing live art at the last Sacramento show and asked if I could come up with something that would allow others to get involved doing art. So the plan is once the panels are filled with aspiring artists work I would then do a piece of art to bring the whole thing together.

Once all the pieces are finished they will be donated at the next Sacramento comic show in December. The donations will be going to The Hero Initiative a charity to help current and retired artists in need. For more on this organization please go here.

Here is one of the commissions I did at the show for Mike. Thanks Mike!!

Gallery Show Recap

Back home and have been setting up things for up coming shows. So posts have not been to much of a concern. I'll try and keep that up for those that read the blog.

The show was amazing and was a great experiance. Being my first time to the gallery I didn't know what to expect but once surrounded by all the art work my nerves started to calm down. Then I had to do a film interview about the 20 years of Sandman and what it means to me. For those of you that might see that interview I warn you I stumble on my words.
Then the night continued on with me giving advice, doing sketches, and talking with other artists. One of whom I was hoping to meet was Mike Dringenberg. He was a real down to earth guy who you could talk to. At one point both Jason Shawn Alexander and I were captivated in conversation by Mike's plans for up coming projects. I can't wait to see what he does next.
At the end of the evening I got to meet Wade and Ben who run Nucleus and talked about artists that interest us as of right now. I can't wait to show there again. Thanks Ben and Wade and thank you to those that turned up and showed your support and continue to show interest in my work.

Me with Ryan Graff the master mind behind show. Thanks Ryan for everything!!

Moving on for any art collecters that might be interested in buying one of the two pieces there is one piece left for sale through Nucleus Gallery. Also there are still a number of great pieces still up for grabs by other artist. The one I wanted is ECLIPSE OF THE REAL by Mike Dringenberg. Man that is such a sweet piece!!! Prices being what they are and with these hard times I was in fact able to get a piece of the show and will display it once its in my hands. Check out the stuff and tell your friends, family and enemies.

Endless Reflections 20 Years of ART

This weekend on Sat. Oct 4th I will have my work in a show at Nucleus Gallery in Alhambra CA. The show will be commemorating 20 years of Vertigo's Sandman series. I will have a total of 2 pieces in the show along with a major line up of other artists.

I would like to thank Ryan Graff who has set up this event and gave me the opportunity to be part of such a great line up. Like many people, I've admired quiet a few of these artists and feel very privileged to be able to show my art along side theirs in such a well known gallery.

If you are in the LA area and are free this Sat. Please stop by.If you are unable to attend please keep in mind that the show will be up until Oct. 20th. I'm sure there are a multitude of Sandman lovers out there and I look forward to seeing those that can make the show.

Here are some pics of the art that will be in the show. I apologize for the poor quality pics. Once better ones are taken I will post those.

The Twins. Acrylic on 24x24 inch wood panel.

Death is the leader. Acrylic on 48x24 masonite panel. (Although the piece is already finished this is the best pic showing all the characters clearly.)

After a long weekend in SF for the Outside Lands Music Festival been working and trying to stay from my comp not to get distracted. Although Chemix and I had a good time I don't know if I want to do that again anytime soon.
I mean 3 days is pushing it. I say this now and realize if the concert list was strong I might consider it. Just tired of long walks through crowds of people.

So many artist get stuck in a room for long hours and forget about time.
Well here is mine!
Enjoy!

Solid Snake Sketch

My brother Chemix has been playing the new Metal Gear game and I've been watching all the cut scenes with my jaw dropping. About a week or so ago we were up in SF waiting in line to meet Hideo Kojima. Although we waited we didn’t get to meet him and I didn’t get to give him my sketch. So here it is for sale at the emonic store.

Catch Up!!

To those that keep up….. What’s Up! I’ve been having a number of personal matters so doing a blog and keeping up with people hasn’t been to strong.
Here’s a bit of catch up…..

On the June 7th at Empires Comics in Sac I did a live art show with Jim Mahfood, David Crosland, Mark Bode, Stan 153, Skinner Alex Chiu, R. Black and Mike Hampton.
It was great painting and getting to see how others do work as well.

Big thanks to Ben owner of Empires Comics and Anthony Leano for the hook up and great experience. Thank you both so much.

Emonic Munny Vinyl

So I've had this guy on my desk for some time and he's been begging to be finished.
This is my first Munny vinyl that I've painted. He belongs to the Cardboard Spaceship store in Santa Cruz. I got him at this past Wonder Con and have been meaning to get over to the shop to drop him off.

Here a some pics of me in the Des Arts Hotel San Francisco in the David Choe room.
More like the bathroom. It was 3am and I wanted to let my girlfriend sleep.

Now that he's all done I'm going to take him home this weekend. When I first started painting him I made the mistake of using alcohol black ink pen. That bad idea cost me a clean up job.Well now he's all better. Thanks again to Cardboard Spaceship.

1 week after Wonder CON

It’s 4am and I’m still playing catch up. Well Wonder Con has come and gone another year with me on the other side of the table. I’ve been attending this event off and on for some time now and seeing what it has become is pretty cool. I wish I had more time to look around at all the cool art tables and booths this year but no luck.

I just want to also say thank you to all those who showed interest and stopped by to show their support. For those that requested commissions please send me an email with copy of what I did for you. So I can post it on the site or here on this blog.

My BAD!!
During the convention someone left a deposit for a color commission. I finished the piece and waited till the end of the convention. You did not show or you missed me. Because there are so many people I was talking to and doing commissions I think I made the mistake of not taking down your information. Please contact me through the site letting me know were to send it. I will send out a mass email to those that placed their information on the contact list hoping you are on there.

As luck would have it I have had a pretty grim begging of the year. Upon my return home I learned more bad news about a family member. So if any of you have been expecting an email or contact call from me this past week please be patient. I will contact you as soon as my schedule opens up.

Many of you dropped cards off and expressed interest in having work done for personal or business projects. If that is still that case and you have lost my card please contact me by email directly through www.emonic.net.

Finally for those who have been asking a store front is being worked on and will be up soon. Until then here is a link to some pics of Wonder-Con and past conventions at Myspace.
