Apple Store : San Francisco

I’ve been asked to come and speak about what I do as an artist.
So if your up in the city tomorrow evening and want to know a bit more about me and my work drop on by the Apple Store on One Stockton Street.

I will be speaking from 6:30 to 7:30 on how I started, my influences, and give examples on process steps for projects. Time allowing I’ll try and do a bit of art.

APPLE STORE (SAN FRANCISCO)

This THURS. from 6:30 to 7PM I'll be speaking on my art and work process at the Apple Store up in the city.

Spent some time sprucing up my wall at Kaleid Gallery with a new paint job and some framed work. The tagging was tape style due to time. I’ll be throwing some more large ones up soon.
All original work is $65 even the BIG ONES. Pieces are mixed with acrylic washes, pen, and pencil. Work is done on 9x12 Canson 96lb Bristol and 18x24 Strathmore Coldpress 140lb Watercolor Paper.

Just started with my pen with this one.


Once my line work is down I went straight for the paint and started laying down my washes of color.


I went a bit more abstract with this one.


After laying down all my light and dark tone marks I follow up with laying down my flat colors on the skull and the spinal cord.


Now that those are done I move back in with my pen and sharpen lines out.


Finally I then take another color and put a little shadow down.
There you have it. On to the next one with a bit more movement.

One piece has sold and I have three left. Show will be up till the end of the month.

Here is another one for all the beat makers grinding away.

So here is a process piece for those of you that like to look at the nuts and bolts of things. Lets get into it….


Grabbed a 9x12 Bristol piece and slammed it to the desk and sketched a bit, erased a bit, and repeated process till something started to show it self. Music helps during this point.

Once I got the road map down and knew where I’m going I got busy with my pen and start laying down my solid lines. That Monster was not looking cool until he had teeth.

Now that I see what’s going on as a whole I started to go back in and add those little elements of snarling the teeth to putting designs on the costume and any other elements. You can see I’m thinking about giving him a design around his eye.

All right now everything is popped out and looking strong. At this point I’m going in and adding in my line weight to pop out elements.

It’s been good so far but there is still more to go. Time to break out the paint. But before I do that I tape down my piece because this thing is going to get wet and will buckle. Throwing the first colors down in any random way is fun and helps give the piece a dynamic feel. Not all the time but often I go to my yellow hue’s when starting.

Since the first color is down I move onto the next colors that happen to be the biggest of the piece and knock those out.



Getting anxious to use my whites I throw those down and pop out some items.

Now I’m moving a bit faster here and just move in with getting down all the color and start popping things back out. These drum breaks are starting to come together.

Not entirely happy with the color tone on some items I go back in and add some things and finish popping this bad boy out. Also finish up on throwing down some shadows. Now that’s a Crunchy Drum Break!!

A Brother of mine Abel Coronado has been in the hospital for some time now and has a ton of people pulling for him on a speedy recovery. We are all waiting to see you out and about and doing more art. Much Love to you from all of us here at the house!!!

IT'S ALMOST HERE!!!

Comic con is upon us, and you know what that means...PANIC! We totally have it in control though and it's completely worth all the running around like chickens with our heads cut off trying to make sure that we can bring out all the awesome stuff we possibly can for you guys. What's that I spy? Some shiny new emonic material? Perhaps a new version of our awesome annual sketchbook? Mayhaps, but you'll just have to stop by at our booth at H-11 to find out. In the mean time the gremlins (Read: us) have some more work to do. Hope to see you there!

I understand that due personal matters and schedules that some of you were not able to attend. Keep in mind that the RENASCI show will be up until MAY 27th. This gallery encourages change so that being known I will be taking advantage and making some modification to my show as time allows. Nothing taken out but something added. I'll keep you posted when and what that might be soon.

My show mate Katie Gutierrez rocked it with her gallery show. Her visual set up turned out quiet amazing!!! Katie you ROCKED!!!! If you get the chance drop her a line through her site and facebook and let her know what you think.
